Photograph red squirrel in the Highlands of Scotland. The Highlands of Scotland are the stronghold of the red squirrel. The can be found across the Highland area including our forest sites on The Black Isle, near Inverness. Red squirrels are unbelievably cute as well as fast and often very curious. Their diet is varied and are attracted to our hides where they are rewarded with a steady supply of hazelnuts. Squirrels are pre=programmed to cache their food however they will often stop and eat hazels in front of the hide. A steady supply of hazels means they will come and go throughout the session. Squirrels often enjoy a mid morning break which gives us time for tea or coffee.
